The mission of GMP is to improve the health and well-being of women and children in developing countries by building the capacity of development partners to implement culturally grounded, grandmother-inclusive and intergenerational community programs. Recognizing the central role of grandmothers in matters related to women and children in non-Western cultures, GMP has developed a strategy to harness their knowledge and natural leadership capacities to influence positive change on issues such as early and forced marriage, teen pregnancy, female genital mutilation and children’s education.
