MapAction provides its services without discrimination, independently and neutrally anywhere in the world where there is a life-threatening humanitarian need. In practice MapAction’s services are predominantly required in low- to middle-income countries, most commonly in Africa, Asia and Latin America/Caribbean, where there is a gap in technical skills to deliver a comparable service in the first hours of an emergency response.
MapAction quickly gathers this crucial data at the disaster scene, conveying it visually in the form of maps. By creating this ‘shared operational picture’ for aid agencies, governments and local partners, we can help them make informed decisions and deliver aid and emergency supplies to the right place, quickly.
