Trócaire’s work in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) focuses on providing humanitarian response, building sustainable livelihoods, and promoting the rights of citizens. Specific attention is given to the rights and needs of women.
1. Food and Resource Rights
This programme aims to help with the recovery of livelihoods after conflict in eastern DRC. Our partners work with communities to develop sustainable, strong livelihoods and reduce vulnerability to shocks so that people have enough food to eat.
2. Governance
Our governance work aims at ensuring that citizens, especially women, are able to influence local development plans and budgets and can hold local government officials accountable. Our partners increase knowledge and capacity among citizens and local government officials to promote the needs of local communities and facilitate dialogue between these parties.
