ADD International is a rights-based organisation working in partnership with disabled people in some of the poorest countries in Africa and Asia for positive change. We do this by encouraging disabled people to come together to channel their voices and campaign for their own rights.
During 2011 we supported 316 disabled people’s organisations with a total membership of 121,267.As well as the challenges to surviving each day that face the millions of people living in poverty, disabled people have to cope with the additional barriers caused by discrimination, stigma and social exclusion.
Through our programmes we help disabled people to develop or strengthen their organisational capacities to advocate for their rights as equal citizens and so for access to services such as health, education, employment, but also self-determination and security.
With our independent voice, ADD International is active on a global level in influencing governments and institutions for greater inclusion of disability in development process.
