List of non-profits

Translators without Borders supplies voluntary or low cost translation services to humanitarian organisations. The following is a list of some of the non-profit organizations served.

PSC Patients Europe

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) is a rare disease of the bile ducts, involving an inflammation of the bile ducts (due to unknown causes). The scar tissue as a result of this inflammation narrows the bile ducts, as a result of which bile might flow back to the liver. At that point, bile is toxic and can destroy the liver. As yet, there exists no medication that can cure PSC. The primary symptoms of PSC are, among others, (debilitating) fatigue, pruritus (intense itching) and jaundice. As a result, the patient’s quality of life is often low. Children and adults can have PSC. The estimated median survival rate from diagnosis until liver transplantation or PSC-related death is currently 21 years.

PSC Patients Europe (PSCPE) was founded in November 2014, as a 'new style'patient organisation: a pan-European disease-specific foundation, often complementary to the already existing national Patient Organisations (PO's), which are frequently organ-based PO's (e.g. liver foundations, liver patient associations etc.).

Qatar Computing Research Institute

The Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) in Doha, Qatar, is a nonprofit multidisciplinary computing research institute founded by the Qatar Foundation (QF) for Education, Science and Community Development in 2010. It is primarily funded by the Qatar Foundation, a private, non-profit organization that is supporting Qatar on its journey from carbon economy to knowledge economy.

Ranger Campus Foundation

The translated content is part of our e-learning platform called Ranger Academy. It is developed specifically for wildlife rangers around the world, who we want to provide with access to free professional quality training modules. This means there is the possibility to use the platform offline, and almost all content is video based. The module topics are what we call 'the Fundamentals' and include first aid, snakebites, basic forensic awareness and human rights.

Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi Foundation works to put the power of digital making into the hands of people all over the world, so they are capable of understanding and shaping our increasingly digital world, able to solve the problems that matter to them, and equipped for the jobs of the future.

We provide low-cost, high-performance computers that people use to learn, solve problems and have fun. We provide outreach and education to help more people access computing and digital making. We develop free resources to help people learn about computing and how to make things with computers, and train educators who can guide other people to learn.

Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Justice (RESURJ)

We are a membership-based alliance of feminist activists working across generations, constituencies, and identities seeking to realize sexual and reproductive justice for all. Our justice approach encompasses an understanding of and a commitment to addressing the interlinkages between our bodies, our health, and our human rights in the context of the ecological, economic, and social crises of our times. This approach also recognizes historic injustices and systemic inequality in gender power relations. We aim to contribute to creating long-term systemic change by transforming our ways of thinking, working, and living while relying on the leadership of communities most impacted by sexual and reproductive oppression.

Refucomm

We are a grassroots organisation who have been operating in the field for two years. We provide essential information to refugees in the form of documents, films and animations in Greece.

We are currently shifting our focus to providing information to the Greek Islands where the situation is really terrible for refugees who have no information on their rights and the procedures. Thousands of them are facing deportation back to Turkey or to their country of origin.

Refugee Aid MMP

Refugee Aid was started after the Green Gathering 2015, where the two founders met small groups who were already delivering aid to Calais. Inspired by the direct action, and considering the story was not in the news at this point, we started planning ways to help.

We felt moved by the generosity of spirit and initiative that ordinary citizens had shown, and by the severe plight the refugees were in. We started the Kit-2-Calais campaign to provide direct aid and to help spread the message of the crisis on our doorstep.

Refugee Info Bus

We work with the most vulnerable and neglected groups of refugees in North France and Central Greece. We bring internet access to those who live on the fringe of society providing a powerful tool for communication and self reliance. By informing refugees with information on legal procedure and human rights, we work towards a safer, more secure future for those in most need.
